Zones are areas of gameplay where cards are placed to distinguish it from cards in different areas. There are six zones.
Battle Zone[]
The battle zone is the zone where creatures are put in when they are summoned. In this zone, creatures can attack and block.
- Each player can only have a maximum of 7 creatures in the battlezone.
Deck[]

The deck is the zone where players draw cards from at the start of their turn and at the start of the game.
- A deck must have exactly 40 cards in order to be played in a duel.
- A Player Immediately Loses if the last card of their deck is drawn.
This is known as a "Deckout".
Graveyard[]

The graveyard is the zone where cards are put when a creature is destroyed, or a spell's effects have resolved, or a card is discarded from your hand.
Hand[]
The hand contains the cards that you can play (summon or cast) or put into your mana zone.
- Each player can only have a maximum of 10 cards in their hand. Any extra cards added to the hand after 10 will be placed into the graveyard.
Mana Zone[]

The mana zone is the zone where you place cards in from your hand in order to pay for the cost of a card.
Shield Zone[]

The shield zone is the zone that contains your shields, cards that, when break|broken by a creature's attack, are put into your hand.
- Each player can only have a maximum of 10 shields. Any extra shields added to the shield zone after 10 will be placed into the graveyard.
